The Ninth Graduating Class of Praise, Power, and Prayer Christian School: 6 Seniors

I. SAT Scores: The table on the right is a list of SAT verbal, math, and combined sores from some of this year's graduates of Praise, Power & Prayer Christian School. Some other academic accomplishments by members of the class of 2005 are listed below in the National History Day section.
II. "National History Day" Competition: Amazing success with individual initiative and no official History teacher at school!
  • In 9th Grade:
    • Colleen McMahon, with a 10 minute individual performance on "King Philip's War," placed 2nd at Regionals, 1st at States, and represented Connecticut at the National History Day Competition at the University of Maryland.
  • In 10th Grade:
    • Colleen McMahon, with a 10 minute group performance (with older brother James, 12th grade) on "John Quincy Adams: Overcoming the Pinckney-Gag Rule," placed 1st at Regionals, 1st at States, and represented Connecticut at the National History Day Competition at the University of Maryland.
    • Sarah McMahon, with an Exhibit on the "GI Bill of Rights," placed 3rd at Regionals, 1st at States, and went on to have her board featured at the Washington City Museum during the National Competition.
    • Jennifer Kirschner, with a research paper on "The Rights of the Wright Brothers," placed 1st at Regionals, 1st at States (also receiving the Siemen's Corporation Award), and represented Connecticut at the National History Day Competition at the University of Maryland.
    • Michelle Morrison, with an exhibit on the "Labor Movement," won 1st place at Regionals, and went on to the State level of competition.
  • In 11th Grade
    • Colleen McMahon, with a 10 minute individual performance on "Irish Immigration," placed 1st at Regionals, 1st at States (also receiving the Ellsworth Grant Award for Best Use of Primary Sources), and represented Connecticut at the National History Day Competition at the University of Maryland, placing 7th in the nation among 80+ contestants at that level!
    • Sarah McMahon, with an exhibit on "Merrimac and Monitor," placed 1st at Regionals, 2nd at States, and represented Connecticut at the National History Day Competition at the University of Maryland.
